• Lady Gaga and Shawn Mendes were nearly cast as the lead roles of Elphaba and Fiyero in the highly anticipated 'Wicked' movie adaptation, in a version to be directed by acclaimed 'The Crown' filmmaker Stephen Daldry.
• The potential casting coup was ultimately scrapped, leaving the door open for Broadway star Cynthia Erivo to take on the role of the Wicked Witch of the West in the big-screen adaptation, set to hit theaters in 2024.
