Director James T. North stumbled upon a 1973 Mercury Brougham he thought was perfect for his film 'Filthy Animals', but the car's mechanical issues and blind spots nearly caused multiple crashes during test drives with his lead actors.
Despite the car's problems, North decided to use it in the film's driving sequences, but the Brougham died again shortly after, forcing the crew to tow it to locations and later replace it with a 1969 Pontiac GTO when the original car was unexpectedly scrapped by a new owner.
