Director Scott Chambers wanted to portray Peter Pan's story as inherently disturbing, with the character's tendency to sneak into children's bedrooms and whisk them away to Neverland.
To make Peter Pan even creepier, Chambers gave the character a literal mask to wear, allowing the actor to mimic a child's voice in order to gain the trust of his young victims.
